Role Overview
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will play a pivotal role in our leadership team, with a strong focus on driving product development and ensuring the alignment of our technical and strategic goals. This role is about collaboration—both within the company and with our parent company—to shape and execute our vision for cutting-edge VR solutions.
We are looking for someone who combines a passion for product development with deep technical expertise, particularly in VR and full stack technologies. You understand that great products come from empowering independent, autonomous teams and fostering a culture where ideas can flourish. Your ability to think strategically and communicate effectively will be critical to integrating technical excellence with user-focused product design.
In collaboration with our internal and external leadership figures, our CTO should optimize processes, establish software development best practices, and ensure the seamless integration of immersive VR experiences with supporting systems. This is a role for a leader who thrives on empowering others, values collaboration, and is excited to play a hands-on part in shaping both the product and the team behind it.
Key Responsibilities
- Vision and Strategy:
- Develop and communicate a clear product and technology vision aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
- Create, support and maintain a technical roadmap that supports product development goals and timelines by bringing the the team’s expertises together.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in VR and related fields to drive innovation.
- Product and Technical Leadership:
- Oversee all aspects of the company's product development and technical engineering.
- Shape our product and it’s features by collaborate with other departments and stakeholders, prioritize development efforts, and ensure timely delivery.
- Provide hands-on leadership to the VR team (Unity) and Full Stack team (backend, frontend and services).
- Collaborate with our Marketing/ Sales team to learn the user’s needs enhancing the product fit as well as supporting commercial strategies.
- Establish and follow design, development and process standards and best practices.
- Stakeholder Management and Customer Relationship:
- Act as a product and technical representative to internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and clients.
- Communicate product and technology concepts and trends to non-technical stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support the company's growth and success.
- Understand and foster relationships to close customers to establish our product in existing industries.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and develop technical talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- See to the team’s needs for a efficient and healthy work environment.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging open communication and teamwork.
- Manage and oversee development budgets and resources.
- Software Engineering and Processes:
- Lead and collaborate on our system architecture and key services/ features together based on the recommendations of our development team.
- Code and develop solutions alongside the technical team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in software and product development with focus web technologies and 3D and/ or CAD applications.
- Proven track record in a leadership role, ideally as a CTO or senior technical leader in a similar-sized company or startup.
- Experience in managing technical teams, including hiring, mentoring, and as well as creating and maintaining software development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of complex software products from concept to delivery.
- Experience in managing development budgets.
- Familiarity with legal aspects of running a company, such as contracts, intellectual property, data protection, and compliance.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Virtual, Mixed or Augmented Reality software and market as well as 3D/ CAD technologies, tools, and frameworks.
- Knowledge of agile development processes like f.e. SCRUM, Kanban as well as related software products f.e. Jira.
- Knowledge of full stack technologies and best practices Django (Python), React (TypeScript/ JavaScript), AWS.
- Knowledge of Unity, C#, and VR development best practices.
- Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment.
- Understanding of software security best practices, data protection guidelines, certification processes.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into technical strategy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
